VulnHawk is a security testing tool. It may only be used against systems you own or have explicit written permission from the owner to test.
What Constitutes Authorization
Authorization means:
- You own the target system
- You have a signed engagement letter, scope document, or bug bounty program authorization
- The target is explicitly published as a public test environment for security tools
Verbal permission alone is insufficient. If in doubt, obtain written consent before scanning.
Consequences of Unauthorized Use
Unauthorized scanning is illegal in most jurisdictions, including:
- United States: Computer Fraud and Abuse Act (CFAA)
- United Kingdom: Computer Misuse Act 1990
- European Union: Directive 2013/40/EU on attacks against information systems
Penalties range from fines to imprisonment.
Our Position
We cooperate fully with law enforcement. Every scan is logged with the operator's identity, IP address, and target. We will provide these records in response to a valid legal request.
Rate Limiting and Politeness
The Service enforces delays and connection limits to avoid overwhelming targets. Attempting to bypass these protections is a violation of the Terms of Service and may result in account termination.
